MY LATEST CAR PROJECT - JAGUAR XK 150 DHC

I was recently asked to help with the makeover of the interior of this gorgeous Oldtimer. Built in the late 50s/early 60s I would in fact consider the Jaguar XK 150 model one of the most beautiful classic cars ever.

The brief was to update the interior by infusing just the right dose of glamour while maintaining its overall classical feel. And this is the final result:

I decided to keep the tan coloured leather since it had a lovely patina that needed just a little bit of proper oiling. To complement the existing colour scheme of the leather the new dashboard was especially crafted from locally grown European beech wood and accentuated with some diagonal graphic chrome detailing.

The old carpets definitely had to go since they were beyond repair. We installed a simple black carpet and added European beech slats with little chrome accents on top to give it a sporty and classy look. The wooden slats not only pick up the warm copper tone beautifully but even repeat the vertical lines of the leather seats creating a nice flow. I liked the look so much that I carried the theme all the way through to the boot:

The reason why I actually chose European beech over some fancy exotic woods was not only the convincing environmental aspect of it but also the fact that with its warm simplicity it lets the striking colour combination of copper, black and chrome really shine.

And one last image where you can see the sand coloured hood for a stylish ride even when it's raining:

Can't wait until tomorrow - I've been promised a little Sunday afternoon trip in the Jag . Hopefully, we won't need the hood though.
